ALIANZA WINS SALVADORAN APERTURA, COMPLETES UNBEATEN SEASON
Alianza completed an unbeaten 2017 Salvadoran Apertura campaign with a 4-1 win over Santa Tecla in the final on Sunday at the Estadio Cuscatlan. Rodolfo Zelaya (14’, 64’) scored two goals – one in each half -- while Marvin Monterrosa (10’) and Gustavo Guerreno (64’) netted once apiece. Santa Tecla struck through Ricardinho (44’) shortly before halftime, cutting Alianza’s lead to 3-1.

The Albos went 16W-11D-0L in 27 regular-season and playoff games. During the regular season, they hit the back of the net a league-high 50 times, while conceding a league-low 19 goals.

The title is Alianza’s 12th and first since the 2015 Apertura.

PEREZ ZELEDON, HEREDIANO TO MEET IN COSTA RICAN INVIERNO FINAL
Perez Zeledon clinched a berth in the two-legged 2017 Costa Rican final, beating host and regular-season champion Herediano (2-0-4, 6), 2-1, on Sunday. Thanks to the result, Perez Zeledon (4-1-1, 13) finished atop the Quadrangular table, three points ahead of second-place Saprissa (3-1-2, 10), which fell 2-1 to last-place visitor Santos de Guapiles (1-2-3, 5).

In victory, Josue Mitchell (2’) and Pablo Azcurra (46’) scored for Perez Zeledon, while William Quiros (25’) netted for the Florenses.

Herediano and Perez Zeledon will now meet two more times, with the latter hosting the first leg on December 20 at the Estadio Municipal Perez Zeledon.

It will be Perez Zeledon’s second-ever appearance in the final. The Generaleños fell to Alaljuelense in the 2004/05 decider (agg: 1-4).

PULISIC SCORES FOR BORUSSIA DORTMUND
United States international Christian Pulisic’s goal in the 89th minute gave host Borussia Dortmund a 2-1 win over Hoffenheim in the 2017/18 German Bundesliga on Sunday. The 19-year-old now has three goals in 16 games.
