PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – In the last day of action at the Visit Puerto Vallarta Cup 2017, tournament host Mexico (3W-0W+-0L, 9 points) earned a 5-4 win over CONCACAF rival United States (2W-0W+-1L, 9 pts.) to finish first in the Beach Soccer Worldwide-sanctioned competition.

Mexico rallied back from one-goal deficits on three occasions to defeat the United States, 5-4, and finish atop the table of the four-team tournament with maximum points from each of its three games. Angel Rodriguez scored four goals in a winning effort, two equalizers and two that put the Tricolor ahead, including the game-winner with slightly more than one minute left on the clock.

Alba Mellado scored three goals for the Spanish, while Jessica Higueras added a brace. Paloma Zermeño netted Mexico’s the lone goal, making it 4-1 in the 19th minute.
